Painterly composition with a monchromatic scheme. Lots of atmosphere, and a distinct composition of brush stroke types: Delicate and figure conforming for the subject; wild and thorny for the environment.

Although the composition brings to mind one of those super-slick commercials about depression, I like the color scheme’s soulfulness.

I’ve always been fascinated by the Aurora Borealis, though I’ve never witnessed the phenomenon personally. A few years ago I did a hand-drawn animated film also on this subject.
